Connect with your thoughts AND your emotions. Both are key to transforming your mind.

In a world that prioritizes intellect over emotions, there exists a notable disconnection from our complete selves. The societal emphasis on rational thinking and logic often overshadows the importance of emotional intelligence and self-awareness. This imbalance can breed alienation from our inner emotional landscapes, hindering genuine self-understanding and interpersonal connections. It is crucial to acknowledge and embrace the complexity of human experience, recognizing that true harmony comes from integrating both intellect and emotions into our interactions and decision-making processes.

Practice is vital for learning, skill development, and memory. Repeating tasks, concepts, or information strengthens neural pathways, and so does listening attentively to our heart space, allowing its whispers to guide us along our journey with clarity and purpose.

*Today, connect with your thoughts, and your feelings*

  1. Breathe a connected breath- no break between the inhale and the exhale. If you need a counted breath to help you focus, without the ruminating thoughts, inhale for 6 counts, exhale for 8 counts.

  2. Set a timer for 3 minutes, to settle into the breath.

  3. After three minutes begin to take note of what thoughts are going through your mind. Allow yourself to be completely present with your thoughts, without judgement. This is an exercise is awareness. It is not about dissecting your thoughts.

  4. Then draw your attention to the hands on your heart and notice any emotions and/or physical feelings arising with these thoughts. Allow emotions to surface without stifling them. Allow any discomfort to arise and take notice.

  5. The goal is to create awareness. With awareness we can begin to learn about ourselves.

  6. Do this with compassionate curiosity. Just as you might offer a non judgemental listening ear to someone you care about, offer this to yourself.

  7. Move back and forth between your thoughts (mind), and your emotions (heart). Notice the connection between the two.

  8. Practice this experience with an entirely different type of thought. If your first thinking was something negative about yourself, do this practice with something you find positive in life and notice the physical and emotional sensations arise with this other thought.

  9. Write down, or make a voice note your thoughts and their connection to emotions. Do this without judgment. Allow your mind to wander freely as you write or dictate a journal entry. Embrace each feeling and idea that comes to you, allowing them to flow without inhibition.

This practice of self-reflection and introspection can help you gain a deeper understanding of yourself and your emotions that are connected to your thoughts. By connecting with your inner self in this way, you may find that you’ve stumbled upon the epicenter of your mind-heart connection. Imagine your thoughts and emotions holding hands, skipping through the meadows of your consciousness, harmonizing like a perfectly orchestrated symphony. When you invite your thoughts to tango with your emotions, magic happens. It's like the ultimate fusion, that can create a deeper understanding of self. So, don't be afraid to think AND FEEL. Connect those dots, follow the breadcrumbs from your thoughts to your emotions, and watch as your inner world transforms into a masterpiece of understanding and self-love.
