The importance of rest
Never underestimate the healing of rest. In this capitalistic society that deems our worth through our productivity and output, resting can be misconstrued as lazy (as discussed previously). But rest is ESSENTIAL to mental health. True rest means that the body, mind and spirit are at ease.
Rest looks different for everyone. Rest can be a nap, an epsom salt bath, time in nature, time with people you enjoy. It can be getting your favorite foods and laying in bed all day, binging on your favorite mindless show with all the snacks!
Rest can also be doing things you enjoy simply for their enjoyment and not about the final product- like crafting. Knitting for the enjoyment of knitting, not only for the final result. Some people find rest by gardening.
The point is that true rest is where your body systems are not on GO, they are on pause. Your mind relaxes from rumination and worry, and your body releases long held tension.
Lean into rest as often as you possibly can. It is absolutely a part of transforming your mind!
