Chakras: Creating balance and harmony to your life
Do you consistently or frequently feel as if your life is off balance or out of harmony with what you truly want? Difficulty communicating your needs, placing boundaries, lots of little, annoying health issues, lack of energy, emotionally off kilter in general?
It is possible that you have a Chakra point blockage or restriction.
All life is composed of energy that flows and hums in waves. It is believed, that our energy, or Chakra, collects in different points in our body - called Chakra points. The energy flows from our feet, where we also pick up Universal energy from the ground, and it flows upwards through our body.
Chakra, and the chakra points, influence our nerves, organs, emotional and spiritual wellbeing. The ideal is that energy flows freely to and through each point, connecting them all so that we are able to live full and balanced lives. Often times, that isn’t the case. One or more of the chakra points can be completely or partially blocked, limiting the flow to the others below it. As a result, we see indications of it in our lives through imbalances and difficulties.
As a woman spiritually focused, I appreciate the importance of taking care of my mind, body, and soul. This includes being aware of my chakra, or internal energy centers, and being mindful of when they may be out of balance, and therefore my life and purpose is being interrupted.
Introduction to the 7 Chakras
Understanding the 7 chakras locations and purpose can help us balance our energy and achieve overall wellness. This is brief overview of the seven chakras:
1: The Root Chakra
The root chakra or Muladhara is located at the base of the spine. It is associated with the color red and represents our foundation, stability, and grounding. When this chakra is balanced, we feel secure, stable, and connected to the earth. However, when it is blocked, we may feel anxious, insecure, and disconnected from ourselves and others.
2: The Sacral Chakra
The sacral chakra or Svadhishthana is located in the lower abdomen. It is associated with the color orange and represents our creativity, sexuality, and emotions. When this chakra is balanced, we feel passionate, creative, and connected to our emotions. However, when it is blocked, we may feel stuck creatively, have low libido, and struggle with expressing emotions.
3: The Solar Plexus Chakra
The solar plexus chakra or Manipura is located in the upper abdomen. It is associated with the color yellow and represents our personal power, confidence, and identity. When this chakra is balanced, we feel confident, empowered, and have a strong sense of self. However, when it is blocked, we may feel powerless, have low self-esteem, and struggle with decision-making.
4: The Heart Chakra
The heart chakra or Anahata is located in the center of the chest. It is associated with the color green and represents our love, compassion, and connection with others. When this chakra is balanced, we feel loved, compassionate, and connected to others. However, when it is blocked, we may feel unloved, disconnected, and struggle with trust.
5: The Throat Chakra
The throat chakra or Vishuddha is located in the throat. It is associated with the color blue and represents our communication, self-expression, and authenticity. When this chakra is balanced, we speak our truth, express ourselves authentically, and communicate effectively. However, when it is blocked, we may struggle with speaking our truth, feel misunderstood, and have difficulty expressing ourselves.
6: The Third Eye Chakra
The third eye chakra or Ajna is located in the center of the forehead. It is associated with the color indigo and represents our intuition, wisdom, and inner vision. When this chakra is balanced, we have a strong intuition, access our inner wisdom, and have a clear vision for our lives. However, when it is blocked, we may feel disconnected from our intuition, lack direction, and struggle with decision-making.
7: The Crown Chakra
The crown chakra or Sahasrara is located at the top of the head. It is associated with the color violet and represents our spirituality, connection to the divine, and enlightenment. When this chakra is balanced, we feel a deep sense of spiritual connection and have a heightened sense of awareness. However, when it is blocked, we may feel disconnected from our spirituality, have a lack of purpose, and struggle to find meaning in life.
Opening our Chakras: Chakra Meditation steps
When we feel out of sorts or find ourselves living a life that leaves us unhappy, angry, frustrated, unfilled, there’s a good chance that one or more Chakra point is blocked. Opening up our chakra points may take some outside assistance from a Reikki Master, like myself, or other spiritual means. There are several ways to open these chakras and increase their flow. One that is a great daily practice for maintenance, or a starting off point if you suspect you have a blockage, is Chakra meditation. Here is a brief step by step meditation practice to open, connect with and increase the flow of you Chakra throughout your body.
Sit upright, with your spine comfortably straight. Take a deep breath, and let it out slowly. Become aware of your body, starting with your feet. Breathe deep, and exhale slowly as you focus on each area and tell your muscles to relax. Work your way all the way up until you are in a relaxed state.
Now, focus on your breathing. Taking easy, slow and deep breaths. Let it feel natural but at a steady, even rhythm. Imagine the oxygen flowing through your body, reaching all of your muscles, feeding your blood, and cells while removing any toxins as you exhale.
Now, with the breath, imagine your heart beating, slow and steady. Imagine how amazingly our bodies systems all work together and how our breath and the blood pushed by heart gives it all life.
Imagine now that with each gently inhale, you are breathing in life energy along with the air. Picture it a yellow - orange color. See it surround your entire body, infusing with your aura. As it infuses with your aura, your aura gets brighter and stronger, more electric. Do this step slowly and then keep this energy flowing.
Now, starting with your root chakra, imagine a clockwise swirl of energy that becomes stronger with each breath as you feed it more energy. Then imagine that the ground is sending up more energy to join with yours. Universal life energy.
With both energies merged and flowing together, imagine it as it moves up, swirling in all the other chakra points, one by one. Take your time. Each one may need their own amount of energy, taking longer or shorter than another one.
After you have fueled all of the chakra points, visualize them being fed from the ground, with your breath and your chakra and aura, flowing easily through each chakra point all the way up.
Finally, slow the breath, gently open your eyes and continue to allow yourself to feel relaxed. Become aware of how your entire self feels at this moment. Do this for 15 - 30 minutes each time.
Understanding the 7 chakras locations and purpose can help us balance our energy and achieve overall wellness. By incorporating practices such as yoga, meditation, and color therapy, we can balance our chakras and achieve a deeper sense of self-awareness and connection to the world around us.
